MU Peringkat Satu Dunia Versi IFFHS

Sukses merengkuh tiga gelar juara Liga Primer Inggris dan Liga Champions musim lalu dan kejuaraan dunia antarklub 2009 membuat Manchester United [MU] masuk ke dalam daftar teratas klub terbaik di dunia versi IFFHS.

IFFHS membuat daftar itu berdasarkan prestasi klub yang mulai dihitung sejak Mei 2008 lalu hingga April 2009. Selain tiga gelar, pertimbangan memberikan posisi teratas kepada MU juga dikarenakan Setan Merah hingga saat ini masih berada di puncak klasemen sementara Liga Primer dan berlaga di semi-final Liga Champions.

MU mengumpulkan poin 302, unggul 20 angka dari peringkat dua Barcelona, yang juga masih bertahan hingga semi-final Liga Champions. Peringkat tiga diduduki Chelsea yang mengoleksi nilai 254, dan diikuti klub Argentina, Boca Juniors [253].

Namun, tidak ada satu pun wakil Italia yang mampu menembus sepuluh besar. Klub-klub Italia ini dilewati tim asal Ukraina, Shakhtar Donetsk, yang menempati peringkat sepuluh setelah melonjak tiga tangga dengan poin 218.

Juventus yang di edisi sebelumnya menempati peringkat sembilan melorot ke posisi 13 dengan nilai 205. Sedangkan Inter Milan di posisi ke-14 hasil mengumpulkan angka 195. Sementara AC Milan berada di peringkat ke-32 bersama Internacional dan Aalborg.

Secara keseluruhan, dari 100 daftar klub terbaik dunia ini, klub-klub Inggris, Brasil dan Italia menempatkan delapan wakilnya, tujuh berasal dari Jerman dan Spanyol, sedangkan enam dari Argentina dan Prancis.
